Join us on Thursday, September 3rd for our second year of the much anticipated Dîner en Blanc – Edmonton organized & hosted by The Social Concierge.

Dîner en Blanc combines a beautiful outdoor venue with the sophistication of a gourmet picnic.

On the evening of the event, guests gather at specific departure points around the city. Guided by Dîner en Blanc volunteers, these groups will then converge on the secret location travelling on foot and by coach. Every guest brings their own table, chairs and table setting.

Highlights of the evening include the waving of a cloth napkin to mark the beginning of the dinner, the lighting of the sparklers, trumpets sounding and a disco after the event.

Tickets are based on invitations – Sign up for the waiting list here: http://edmonton.dinerenblanc.info/register

About Dîner en Blanc

Launched in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier, Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide phenomenon celebrated on five continents. Dîner en Blanc – Paris now attracts nearly 15,000 people each year. While the technology behind the event may have changed over the years, the principles fuelling this fantastic event have not: guests continue to gather at a secret location for the sole purpose of sharing a gourmet meal with good friends in one of their city’s most beautiful public spaces. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Dîner en Blanc International is responsible for developing this secret posh picnic in over 50 cities in more than 20 countries around the world. Each event is headed by passionate local organizers who fell in love with the concept and wanted to bring it to their city, giving this rendezvous a local flair.

Dark Matters – August 20, 2015

10849982_816782701715526_6596590004170615066_n

Tonight we got down and nerdy as we participtaed in LEGO building & speed building comps (care of our friends from AIMBOT), found out what type of squirrel personalities we had (thanks to the team from the Kluane Red Squirrel Project), learned about the history of beer & how to make our own brew (with the help of Yukon Brewing and the Edmonton Homebrewers Guild), took a crash course in geology with Shawna and Janina, PhD students from the UofA, got some tips on how best to predict and then chase a severe storm (thanks to the Alberta Storm Chasers), launched rockets, explored TWOSE’s most overlooked exhibits and laid eyes on Sophie – TWOSE’s beloved, but retired Zeiss Star projector AND even enjoyed THREE very special Nerd Nite Edmonton presentations… all in one night!

Big thank you to everyone who came out tonight and unleashed their inner nerds with us! We hope to see everyone again on Thursday, October 15, when we celebrate all things…. ROCK and ROLL =)

Ladies on the Green Golf Classic

11046172_520277581461287_3184252831051753929_o

Join Ladies on the Green for a fun day of food, drinks, and fashionable prizes for women of every ability. No experience required. In fact, if you’ve never played golf, you’ll fit right in!

All this is for a great cause:

To support Edmonton’s Zebra Child Protection Centre in improving the lives of children impacted by abuse.

The day includes:

* Champagne reception
* Armani lipstick bar & pop-up shop
* Roxx Salon hair braiding station
* Starbucks lunch and drinks
* Indulgences at every hole
* Gift bags filled w/ products & gift cards
* Fabulous al fresco dining by Culina Restaurant
* $10,000 Cannacord Genuity hole-in-one
* Killer shopping at our silent auction for things you’ll actually want! Think locally-made designer goods, dinner at #yeg hotspots, spa days, local jewelry & boutique shopping nights!
* Bonus: It’s only 9 holes, 18 would be intolerable.

Don’t want to play a shot? Easy. For a donation a member of Edmonton Police Service will take it for you. Seriously.

Don’t know how to hold a club? Don’t worry, neither do we. We’ll have group lessons from the pros to learn a thing or two.

Don’t want to play at all? We don’t blame you. Register for the $100 ticket, and come mid-way for a lesson & drinks before dinner and the festivities.

If you’ve golfed before, be patient and don’t judge the rest of us. It’s not about how well you golf, it’s about how much fun you have along the way.

And fantastic prizes, awarded not based on scores (or handicap, whatever that is), rather on important factors such as who lands in the sand.

2 ways to participate:

For $250: Play a round of 9-hole golf before dinner & festivities. Cart & club rentals included.

For $100: Join in mid-way for cocktails & 1-hr group lesson w/ a pro before dinner & festivities. Heels & dresses completely appropriate!
